RAC tech installing screening on a carpenter bee job

Welcome to the Athens-Clarke County Regional Office of Rid-A-Critter, Georgia's most environmentally-conscious and forward-thinking pest and animal control company. We're proud to be a locally-owned business based right here in Georgia, and we employ wildlife management professionals who live, work, and play in the areas that they service.

Rid-A-Critter was established in 2001 with the goal of bringing a new level of professionalism built on a scientific approach to animal control and wildlife management. We built our business around core values of respect for our natural environment, fanatical dedication to customer service, and maintaining the highest standards of quality in the industry.

We're both proud and humbled to say that our efforts have paid off. From our humble beginnings as a two-man show, we have grown to become the largest independently-owned animal control company in the Southeastern United States. We've also earned the trust of our customers and have been awarded the Better Business Bureau's highest rating.

This section of our site is customized to our Athens, Georgia Regional Office and concentrates on the animal problems that are most common here. For information about other critters or other places where we work, please visit the main Rid-A-Critter site.

Why Choose Rid-A-Critter for your Wildlife Control Needs?

There are many companies providing animal removal services in our community, so we understand that we have to earn your business. We're not the least-expensive wildlife management company in the area (nor do we try to be), so we have to compete based on quality. Here are some of the ways that we do that, and some of the reasons why we believe that we're your best choice for animal and wildlife management in the Athens-Clarke County area.

Rid-A-Critter is a locally-owned company, not a franchise of a big national company whose headquarters are halfway across the country. We're your friends and neighbors, and we make the decisions right here. But just because we're local doesn't mean that we're small. Rid-A-Critter has the personnel, equipment, and resources to handle any animal control job. When we have to, we just call in reinforcement from our other Regional Offices.

Rid-A-Critter also guarantees your satisfaction. We have the best warranty in the business, and our warranties are attached to the building, not the owner. That means that our warranties are fully transferable, without any break in coverage, if you sell your home or commercial building.

We also strongly believe that businesses have a responsibility to the communities in which they work. We support a wide variety of community organizations, and we encourage our staff to take part in volunteer activities that make our communities better places including volunteer fire departments, EMS companies, and scouting organizations. We also fully support them in these endeavors in any way that we can.

All of our employees are thoroughly screened and extensively trained. Rid-A-Critter is also a Certified Drug-Free Workplace.

Finally, Rid-A-Critter respects our natural environment. We perform most of our work without using any chemical pesticides at all (although we are licensed to use them when they're needed), and we always treat the animals we trap humanely and with the respect they deserve.

Thank you for considering Rid-A-Critter. Please contact us for more information about how we can help you solve your animal control problems.

Wildlife-exclusion technicians working a Hoschton, Georgia squirrel-removal job are installing funnel traps along the edges of the roof to make sure that all the squirrels are caught and relocated before we permanently animal-proof the roof. We don't want to accidentally seal any animals inside the home.

Norway rats gnawed a hole about three inches in from the edge of a plywood crawl space door to get into a house in Hoschton, Georgia. The rat control crew is building a new, rodent-proof crawl space door and frame to keep rats and mice out of the house and clear up the rat infestation without using poisons.

A bundle of air-conditioning pipes and an electrical conduit passed through a three-inch hole in the wooden siding allowed more than enough room for mice to get into a house in Hoschton, Georgia. The mouse control crew is sealing that gap and any others that they find to achieve non-chemical mouse elimination.

A Fist-Sized Hole through the Roof Trim was some Pretty Impressive Tooth Work at a White Plains, Georgia Squirrel-Removal Job
by Webmaster

Roof rats gnawed a hole through the water-damaged wooden trim where it meets the shingles at a roof junction to get into the attic of a house in White Plains, Georgia. A rat control crew working out of our Athens office is non-chemically trapping and removing the rats, addressing the water problem, repairing the damage, and rodent-proofing the house.

Gaps in the mortar joints of a block foundation of a house where it meets the siding will have to be sealed as part of a White Plains, Georgia mouse control job. Permanently eliminating a mouse problem without using poisons requires meticulous attention to rodent-proofing the house.

This morning's inspection confirmed that all the bats have removed themselves from the attic of a house in White Plains, Georgia. A small gap in the roof trim barely three inches wide by half an inch deep was how the bats got into the attic in the first place, and it has been sealed up to make the house bat-proof.

The gap around a stub of a pipe that no longer serves any purpose sticking out from the brick wall allowed mice to climb up the wall and into a house in Lula, Georgia. Settling of the roof over time opened up gaps at the roof junctions that will have to be sealed to achieve non-chemical roof rat control at a Lula, Georgia home. Rodent pest control technicians working out of our Athens office are rat-proofing the house, and using non-toxic traps to catch and remove the existing rats to eliminate the infestation without using poisons.

This afternoon a wildlife-exclusion crew working out of our Athens office will be starting a bat-removal job at a Hoschton, Georgia home. The bats are getting into the attic through gaps in the roof ridge vent due to it warping in the sun. We'll install a Ride Guard wildlife barrier to replace the plastic roof ridge vent and make the attic animal proof.

Wildlife-removal experts doing bat removal and exclusion at a Lula, Georgia home are almost finished. The bats are all out of the attic and the house has been sealed to make it animal-proof; but there's still a lot of guano that has to be removed and carted away, and the attic insulation needs to be replaced.

We're all done with a squirrel-removal and wildlife-exclusion job at a commercial building in Athens, Georgia. A pile of guano on the shingles under a dormer roof made it obvious how bats were getting into the attic of a house in Athens, Georgia. The bat-removal crew is installing a check-valve trap on the edge of the dormer roof to allow the bats to leave the house before we seal them out permanently.

The reason our rodent pest crew is in a crawl space doing Norway rat control in Athens, Georgia is because water rot to the siding and the sill plate opened up a huge gap into the crawl space that will need to be repaired to rodent-proof the house. You can never permanently solve a rat problem without sealing the rats out of the home.

A gap of about a quarter inch around an insulated air-conditioning pipe where it passes through the brick wall is the reason our rodent pest control specialists are doing mouse control at a Winterville, Georgia home today. Mice can get through gaps narrower than a pencil, making non-chemical mouse exclusion very detailed and meticulous work.

A gap between two overlapping sections of drip edge is the reason a wildlife-exclusion crew from our Athens office is doing bat removal at a Winterville, Georgia home this morning. An animal-removal crew from our Athens office is busy doing bat removal at a Bogart, Georgia home this morning. The reason we have a crew from our Athens office doing bat removal and exclusion at a Social Circle, Georgia home is that a wooden strip in the soffit panel is warped and sagging down at one end, creating a one-inch gap that allowed the bats into the attic. Bats are very slender animals with their wings retracted.
